The comedian joked about the hairstyle of Jada Pinkett-Smith, who has an autoimmune disease.

American actor Will Smith made a public apology to comedian Chris Rock, whom he punched in the face at the Academy Awards ceremony.

“I want to publicly apologize to you, Chris; I lost my temper and was wrong. I am very ashamed, and my actions were not inherent in the person I would like to be,” he wrote on his Instagram page.

Earlier on Monday, the American Film Academy condemned Smith’s act and said it would study the incident with his attack on Chris Rock.

During the ceremony on Sunday, Smith punched Rock in the face live on air after he unsuccessfully joked about illness of Smith wife. Later, the actor apologized to the academy and the participants of the ceremony. According to The Wall Street Journal, Rock does not intend to press charges against Smith yet.
