Currently, nearly 2 billion active users use YouTube to access engaging music videos and videos, popular science series, interviews, documentaries, and more.

The equivalent of 500 minutes of video is downloaded every minute, or roughly 30,000 hours of new content per hour. Unsurprisingly, its impressive popularity has already made YouTube the top source of Google’s revenue. Social isolation in recent months has also contributed to the popularity of video services around the world.

Another record set by YouTube is reported: the app has been installed from Google Play 10 billion times. This is an impressive figure and clearly shows that on Android devices alone, YouTube has been downloaded more times than the number of people on the planet.

The only other app with 10 billion installs is Google Play Services, but it’s not an app in the classic sense of the word. The service provides integration of Android system components and third-party applications. It provides distribution of updates, security fixes and information synchronization between different devices.

YouTube is the first traditional Android app to be downloaded 10 billion times. However, it is important to note that the number of installations does not mean that the same number of people use the service at the same time. However, 10,000,000 downloads is good proof of how influential YouTube is in the daily lives of millions of users around the world.
