The President of Ukraine expressed confidence in further fruitful cooperation between the IMF and official Kyiv.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskiy said on Sunday that he had discussed with IMF Executive Director Kristalina Georgieva the issue of Ukraine’s financial stability and the problems of the country’s post-war reconstruction.
“We discussed with IMF Executive Director Georgieva the issue of ensuring Ukraine’s financial stability and preparing for post-war recovery. There are clear plans for today, as well as a vision of the prospects. I am sure that cooperation between the IMF and Ukraine will continue to be fruitful,” Zelenskiy wrote on Twitter.
Prime Minister of Ukraine Denys Shmyhal said earlier that he would take part in meetings of the International Monetary Fund and the World Bank in Washington next week and would seek additional financial assistance for Ukraine.
As already reported, the IMF and the World Bank have opened special accounts to collect and transfer donations for the restoration of Ukraine. According to the IMF forecasts, one of the consequences of the war unleashed by Moscow may be a slowdown in the global economy.
